Projects first need to be submitted via the OneIT project form. This form captures a brief description of the project, impacted ITS departments, and information needed to determine the project classification.
Project classification categorizes a project's attributes, which helps assess the project's scale, complexity, and potential changes to ensure that effective planning and execution happens throughout the governance process. Classifications are used to determine the project band (platinum, gold, silver and bronze).
The project actions matrix will help you determine what actions are required to move the project through the governance process. The process is meant to allow for silver and bronze band projects to easily move through the process, while gold and platinum band projects will require additional checks to proceed.
The project governance process is a five-phase process that will guide you through the various stages in the governance process. The five phases in the process are: pre-initiation, initiation, planning, implementation, and closeout.
Refine project ideas through discussions, early planning, and submission of the OneIT project form. This phase helps determine feasibility and initial classification.
A detailed project plan is developed, including scope, schedule, communication strategies, and resource needs. The project is scored and prepared for prioritization by the executive committee and CIO.
All activities are completed, deliverables are formally accepted, and the project transitions to operational support.
