ITS Leadership Team
The ITS Leadership Team’s mission is to serve as the first step and primary organizational leadership body for Information Technology Services in the OneIT governance process. Composed of the Senior and Executive Directors overseeing ITS units and the CIO, the team reviews project briefs, status updates, and closeout reports for ITS department projects and advises the CIO on prioritization, resourcing, and scheduling. The ITS Leadership Team meets weekly.
ITS Leadership Team responsibilities
Serve as the entry point for ITS department projects by:
- Reviewing project briefs, status updates, and closeout reports for ITS department projects
- Discussing and aligning projects as they move through formal governance steps
Advise the CIO on project decisions by:
- Providing recommendations on project prioritization, resourcing, and scheduling
- Supporting CIO approval at each formal decision point in the governance process
OneIT Executive Committee
The OneIT Executive Committee’s mission is to provide input on OneIT projects and support coordination, awareness and transparency across OneIT. With a focus on the best interest of the University of Iowa, the committee receives project briefings and status reports and provides input to project teams and organizational leadership. The executive committee meets biweekly.
Executive committee responsibilities
Receive pre-initiation and project plan briefs for platinum and gold band projects with the following outcomes:
- Provide feedback for ITS LT review
- Review of recommended changes required for future approvals
Support project awareness and coordination by:
- Providing quarterly updates of Stated Service Direction documents
- Sharing project plans, updates and material changes for moderate and high complexity projects
Enable communication and transparency by:
- Communicating to the broader IT community about newly initiated projects, project prioritization outcomes, and recently closed projects
OneIT Technical Committee
The OneIT Technical Committee’s mission is to manage the enterprise technology architecture for OneIT and review projects for technical sufficiency. The committee is tasked with recommending projects for OneIT project review through the executive committee and CIO. The technical committee meets weekly.
Technical committee responsibilities:
Present and review technical considerations for silver, gold and platinum band projects with the following outcomes:
Risk assessment and management
Licensing, purchasing, and contractual considerations
Service management considerations (how is it maintained, refreshed, supported ongoing)
Advise on coordination by:
Alignment with planned direction of enterprise technology
Identifying cross-team dependencies that may impact delivery
Review OneIT projects for technical concerns (roadblocks, etc.)
Support project coordination by:
Communicating meeting outcomes between the technical committee and CIO
