Executive Committee

The Executive Committee’s mission is to provide strategic guidance to the CIO on prioritizing and planning ongoing and future OneIT projects, ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic goals, enhancing transparency. With a focus on the best interest of the University of Iowa, the Committee is tasked with recommending new project initiations and providing recommendations for project prioritization and scheduling. The Executive Committee meets weekly. 

Executive Committee Responsibilities

  • Present pre-initiation brief for high complexity projects with the following outcomes: 

    • CIO approval to initiate project 

    • Recommended changes needed for future approval

  • Review of Joint Project List(s) to advise on prioritization, resource allocation and scheduling 

  • Recommend CIO approval of prioritization list and resourcing 

  • Sharing of project plans, updates and changes made to Moderate- and High-complexity projects 

  • Recommend CIO approval to close high-priority projects 

  • Communication to larger IT community regarding newly initiated projects, project prioritization and recently closed projects  

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee’s mission is to manage the enterprise technology architecture for OneIT and review projects for technical sufficiency. The committee is tasked with recommending projects for OneIT Project Prioritization through the Executive Committee and CIO. The Technical Committee meets weekly. 

Technical Committee Responsibilities:

  • Review newly added projects on the Joint Projects List (JPL) for technical sufficiency, to include: 

    • Alignment with planned direction of enterprise technology 

    • Risk assessment and management

    • Licensing, purchasing, and contractual considerations 

    • Service management considerations (how is it maintained, refreshed, supported ongoing) 

  • Align JPL project scoring between departments to improve recommended scoring 

  • Review OneIT Project Prioritization for technical concerns (roadblocks, etc.)
