Ed Hill has been named executive director of Administrative Information Systems (AIS) in Information Technology Services. Hill has more than 30 years of information technology experience, nearly all at the University of Iowa.

Tracy Scott will take on the role of departmental leader for ITS Enterprise Services (ES), effective March 1, reporting to Associate Vice President and CIO Steve Fleagle. Scott has demonstrated strong leadership skills at the helm of Service Management and Support (SMS) in ES since 2016 and was promoted to senior IT director in 2019.

Katie Kahler has accepted the position of chief of staff in the Office of the CIO. Kahler has served as a senior project manager in Information Technology Services since 2017. She will onboard to her new role this month and officially transition on Jan. 3.

The 2021 OneIT Year in Review highlights how OneIT helped the university meet numerous COVID-related needs and helped shape the future of work on campus, while still making progress on core-mission activities such as enhancements to research computing services and programs to improve teaching and learning.

Julie Cunningham has accepted the position of senior director of human resources for Information Technology Services (ITS), starting March 1. Cunningham is the associate director of HR for the State Hygienic Laboratory and the Office of the Vice President for Research, where she has worked since 2018. She is also currently serving as interim senior HR director for the Tippie College of Business and served as the interim senior HR director for the Graduate College last fall.

Tony Clark has accepted the position of IT director for the College of Pharmacy, effective Jan. 18, 2022. Clark is retired from the Air Force after 25 years of service. As a commissioned officer, he held IT-related leadership positions for 16 of those years.

Sriram Chari has accepted the position of executive director of Administrative Information Systems in Information Technology Services (ITS), effective Nov. 1. Chari has worked as director of middleware IT operations at Emory University for the past seven years, leading strategic initiatives and business plans spanning service management, identity and access management, webhosting and research IT, integration, and database management.

Joe Hetrick has accepted the position of senior director of ITS Research Services (ITS-RS), following a competitive national search. Hetrick has served as the interim director of ITS-RS since June and for the past four years led the Research Services Advanced Computing Support Team responsible for providing High Performance Computing, Research Storage, and Interactive Data Analytics services.  

Deputy Information Security Officer Zach Furst will become the new Chief Information Security Officer Aug. 1. Shari Lewison will remain in ISPO, continuing work on initiatives with which she is involved and working to ensure a smooth transition. Lewison initiated the change as she begins to plan for retirement, to ensure continuity and stability in the role.

Information Technology Services (ITS) welcomes Brandon Mills as the new leader of the Enterprise Services Custom Solutions and Integrations (CSI) applications team, effective July 1, 2021.
