After a competitive internal search, Chris Clough accepted the position of IT director for the College of Education, effective Monday, Feb. 5. Clough will spend 50% of his time on IT director responsibilities for the college and continue his 50% role as IT director for the Division of Student Life. 

Clough has been with Extended Technical Support in ITS Enterprise Services since 2009, holding both technical and leadership roles within the team. In 2021, he also began managing more day-to-day IT operations within the Division of Student Life. Clough began his IT career with the UI in 2004 as a student employee at the ITS Help Desk and earned his bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the UI in 2007. He has served as chair of the IT Leadership Development Team and established a career transition program for high school students with disabilities in collaboration with the Center for Disabilities and Development at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital.  

In his new role, Clough will triage and direct collegiate IT requests, manage day-to-day IT operations in the college, and ensure that collegiate IT needs are met utilizing the core, common, and unique model for OneIT service delivery. He will collaborate across OneIT, bringing the voice of the college to discussions, and help to analyze issues and make recommendations and decisions at the university level.  

Clough will report to College of Education Dean Dan Clay, along with Brandon Mills for his Division of Student Life responsibilities. As with all collegiate and administrative IT leaders, he will also have a reporting relationship to Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer Steve Fleagle.
