Dave Long has accepted the position of executive director of the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology (OTLT) after a competitive national search. 

Long has served as interim senior director of OTLT since November 2025, providing strong, steady leadership for the department and working closely with the leadership team and partners across campus. 

He will continue reporting to Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer Brad Rohrer and serving as a member of the Information Technology Services Leadership Team and OneIT Executive Committee. 

OTLT advances the University of Iowa's teaching, learning, and research missions by connecting people with the services, support, and data they need to achieve their goals. 

In his interim role, Long has collaborated with groups across the institution to ensure Iowa’s instructional technology and research computing services are responsive to instructor, student, and staff needs.

Long brings extensive experience in improving technology and services, guiding teams through change, and bringing people from across the university together to solve problems. His work has helped align instructional technology and course improvement efforts with the strategic missions of OneIT and the University of Iowa. He has been recognized with the University of Iowa Outstanding Staff Award.
