Ed Hill has been named executive director of Administrative Information Systems (AIS) in Information Technology Services, reporting to Associate Vice President and CIO Steve Fleagle. Hill has been serving in this role on an interim basis since April 2023. He has more than 30 years of information technology experience, nearly all at the University of Iowa, where he started as a student developer and worked his way up.

In AIS, Hill was previously a senior application architect and leader of the Architecture Team, which supports services such as Oracle and the Data Warehouse, Universal Workflow, Dispatch, Campus Data, and faculty administrative systems. Hill is working with the AIS Leadership Team and Architecture Team to discuss the structure and leadership of the group going forward.

Earlier in his career, Hill led the technical implementation of the UI built-student record system, MAUI, building out the early architecture, admissions, and financial aid teams and modules. He worked on WebISIS (now MyUI) and created a web team that built several other administrative web applications. Hill also worked as a Unix administrator and web developer earlier in his UI career. He first came to the UI in 1988 and worked as a student developer of instructional training applications.

"The work AIS does is critical to the institution," Fleagle says. "Ed is well known and respected at the UI and has extensive experience with AIS and its campus partners. I am grateful for his willingness to continue providing leadership for the department and our organization. Please join me in congratulating Ed."
