Dr. Anna L. Bostwick Flaming has accepted the position of director of the Center for Teaching in the Office of Teaching, Learning and Technology (OTLT). Flaming's appointment follows a competitive national search. We are grateful to all of the candidates for their interest in the position and to the campus partners who participated in this process.

Flaming has served as the interim director of the OTLT Center for Teaching since February 2021 and prior to that was the associate director of the center. She is a generous and gifted mentor to her colleagues and has successfully hired exemplary staff.

During her seven years with the center, Flaming built impactful faculty programs to improve student outcomes, such as the Early Career Faculty Academy and the Course Design Institute. She also co-led the pilot of the Center’s new DEI in Teaching Practice program and directed TILE faculty development and support for several years.

Flaming is well-respected in her field across the United States, as evidenced by her national workshops, invited talks, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. She is chair of the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education’s Scholarship Committee, which supports the POD Network’s strategic goal of “advancing evidence-based practice.”

"Anna’s work has already positively shaped teaching and learning on our campus, and I am excited to watch the growth of the Center under her leadership," says Maggie Jesse, senior director of the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology in Information Technology Services. "Please join me in congratulating Anna in this new role."
