We are pleased to announce that several of our IT leaders are taking on new roles in the OneIT community. Please be sure to congratulate them on these exciting career opportunities.

Annette Beck

Annette Beck, director of Enterprise Instructional Technology and Evaluation and Exam Service for the ITS Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology

Annette Beck has accepted a position as the director of operational services in the University College, effective Jan. 2. In this new role, she will be working with all units of the University College including Distance and Online Education, Student Orientation, and Academic Success and Retention.

The position is split 50-50 between IT and administrative and academic duties, so Beck will remain very closely tied to the IT world, and become a close campus partner to the Office of Teaching, Learning & Technology, where she served as director of enterprise instructional technology. Beck will report to Anne Zalenski, associate dean of University College and Distance and Online Education.

Jeff Gillitzer

Jeff Gillitzer has accepted the position of Network Services in Enterprise Infrastructure, starting Jan. 21. Gillitzer will lead the group responsible for campus wired and wireless networks and that provides campus internet access.

Gillitzer will join ITS Enterprise Infrastructure from University of Iowa Health Care Information Systems. His position in HCIS was manager of the Communication Technology Engineering Team, where he oversees network technologies, voice, and the physical cable plant inside the hospital.

Jamie Matthews and Kirk Corey

Kirk Corey
Jamie Matthews

Jamie Matthews has accepted the role of IT leader for the College of Law, in addition to her current role as manager of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk. She is already starting to transition to her additional responsibilities.

Matthews has extensive experience providing services to end users, including in collegiate IT through her previous role in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Having her lead IT for Law will create a great opportunity to share perspectives and knowledge across IT organizations. She will continue to report to Tracy Scott in ITS Enterprise Services, and will have a reporting line to Gordon Tribbey in Law.

Kirk Corey was previously the IT leader for Law, but is spending the majority of his time on his role as director of policy and privacy in the Information Security and Policy Office. This will allow him to focus all of his time on those efforts.

Brenda Ulin

Brenda Ulin

Brenda Ulin, lead data architect on the Data, Analytics, and Insights team in ITS Administrative Information Systems (AIS), decided to defer her retirement to serve in a new capacity focusing on special projects aligned with the university strategic plan and the OneIT Strategic Plan Data Goal.

She’s excited about the opportunity and will reduce her effort to 60 percent time so she can pursue family and personal interests. AIS is working to fill the Data, Analytics, and Insights workgroup leadership position and Ulin will be instrumental in the Data, Analytics, and Insights leadership transition.

It is an exciting time on campus as we continue to leverage data to make better-informed decisions and achieve our institutional objectives. Being able to retain Ulin and having a new Data, Analytics, and Insights workgroup leader will position us to become an even more data-informed institution.
