Observation–Go and See and Job Shadow. Immersion–Short-term assignment and Job Rotation

There are two types of SPARK experiences: observation and immersion. Both are investments in our people and their continued development; observation experiences are meant to provide insights and provoke thought, while immersion experiences might fill in gaps in evolving IT needs or provide an opportunity for deeper learning and career progression.

Observation characteristics:

  • Short duration, typically an hour to a day
  • Relatively low impact on job duties of both the host and observer
  • Foster shared perspectives from diverse groups
  • Provide insights into commonly used services
  • Enable greater understanding of IT ecosystem

Immersion characteristics:

  • Longer duration; typically weeks, months, years
  • High impact on job duties, may require backfill
  • Meet emerging IT needs or fill in gaps
  • Significant career development opportunity
