IT Staff Receive IOWA Awards for Innovative, Impactful Projects

Several professionals from the OneIT community won Improving Our Workplace Awards (IOWA) in recognition of innovative projects that have a lasting positive impact on the institution. Senior Software Developer Michael Alberhasky of Information Technology Services (ITS) won an individual award for creating a HawkID password reset tool. A team award went to the Drupal Digital Signage Team, which through tremendous collaboration launched a cost-effective and user-friendly service for electronic billboards on campus.

New online course evaluation tool saves departments time, money

ACE (Assessing the Classroom Environment) Online allows students to complete the evaluations at a time and place that works for them—on a mobile device in class, at home, or in a computer lab. Faculty will benefit from easy, online access to the data from their current and future course evaluations. The new tool reduces paper waste and requires significantly less staff time to administer. It is forecast to save the university $350,000 per year.
