As artificial intelligence rapidly transforms the technological landscape, OneIT is helping the University of Iowa understand and leverage its capabilities. A new AI Support Team offers training and helps campus explore new AI tools. A new HawkAI certificate program teaches foundational AI skills and more advanced skills for AI data analytics and research. Monthly AI “lightning talk” events showcase AI use cases and tips. An overall AI strategy is in development to help guide our future AI efforts. 

Student success is a constant focus for OneIT. This year we teamed with campus units to create tools for financial aid processes, academic advising insights, charting language proficiency, communicating with students through a mobile app. We continue to invest in technology infrastructure, with enhancements to dozens of classrooms, several projects underway to improve network security and performance, and significant upgrades to platforms that provide storage and backups for critical IT systems. 

Within our organization, we redesigned our governance model to increase engagement across the OneIT community, improve prioritization, risk management, and technology planning, and synchronize with university strategy. Collaborations with Health Care Information Systems are ongoing and together we chose a new IT service management platform and are working closely make decisions about Office 365.
