The IT Project Management Office project team reports that its activities are 93% complete.
The effort has improved visibility of IT activities by expanding use of the Team Dynamix tool to track hours devoted to projects, service, and support. Nearly 1,000 IT projects are being formally tracked through the system, and over 88% of IT staff are now tracking time.
The team identified project-management services needed by the IT community and drafted criteria for projects subject to governance, review, and oversight.
Other accomplishments were receiving approval for a new “project coordinator” job classification and developing a new new website. The site, to be located at http://itpmo.uiowa.edu, will feature management-related documents and templates, outlines, explanations of services offered, and updates on projects with which the group is assisting.
Through the summer, the team will focus on getting the rest of IT staff and projects entered into Team Dynamics, training more individuals to use it, launching the website, and formalizing the IT PMO.
