The Electronic File Storage project team assisted the Office of the State Archaeologist (OSA) in migrating over 8TB of data from local servers to the new ITS Large Scale Storage system.
The OneIT Classroom and Collaboration Space IT Support team met Aug. 3 with IT leaders from UI’s various non-academic organizations to discuss current support models for conference rooms, video-conference spaces, and training facilities.
The Data Center and Servers team wrapped up another successful week of data center audits. The team sent representatives to inventory two data center rooms in Westlawn, documenting over 50 data points on the servers and equipment located there.

Thanks to advances in storage technology, the OneIT Electronic File Storage team announced they were able to decrease the cost of large scale storage from $60/TB/year to $40/TB/year.
The Procurement Project team invited members of the OneIT community to assist in planning efforts for projects surrounding Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. These projects will evaluate VDI opportunities at the UI campus and evaluate the campus software procurement process.
The Classroom and Collaboration IT Support project team recently completed an inventory of service models for support of AV, computer labs and teaching facilities in campus academic units.
The End User Support team held kickoff meetings for two sub-project teams (Desktop and End User Consulting, and Service Desk Unification) to begin organizing those efforts. Next the team will schedule project-planning sessions.
The IT Governance project team continued to discuss and revise a communication/relationship diagram that outlines how decisions are made and reviewed in the OneIT environment.
