Over the past six months, a committee across OneIT and Health Care Information Systems (HCIS) has been working to develop the Sharing Perspectives and Realizing Knowledge (SPARK) program. SPARK is an experiential learning initiative that will provide “observation” (“go-and-see”/job shadow) opportunities and “immersion” (short-term assignment/job rotation) opportunities, all designed to help IT professionals learn, grow, understand the work colleagues do, and explore career paths.

HCIS and OneIT are excited to co-sponsor this important program, which builds upon and formalizes previous experiential learning activities across the IT community and aligns with UI Health Care’s ICARE core values and OneIT Strategic Goal 8: IT Workforce of the Future. You may have heard about SPARK at Tech Forum, and more information on the program is available at

Please visit the website to learn more about the program, and to help get it started the university IT community is being asked to participate in a brief survey by July 15. The survey will help us capture previous experiences that align with SPARK activities, and will help gauge potential interest in future SPARK opportunities. We would appreciate your time (about 10 minutes) in completing this survey, whether or not you have participated in something similar to SPARK in the past.

Thank you for your time and participation in this critical piece of program development. If you have further questions, please contact the SPARK core team.
