The Colleges of Public Health and Dentistry are making tremendous progress in converting their Microsoft Active Directory (AD) forests to the central UIOWA AD forest. This makes additional opportunities for automation available that leverage the central Identity and Access Management systems along with allowing them to shut down excess server hardware, save administrative effort, and reduce the university’s risk profile.
Dentistry plans to convert over 1,500 machines, including clinical labs, by July 1. This is a fairly large endeavor by the group but will have significant efficiency savings in staff time. Public Health plans to convert staff and remote machines by April 1, and have servers done by July 1.
